Be Google’s Number One Search Result (SEO)
What is SEO?
The acronym SEO is spelled out as search engine optimization. All search engines have a list of results ranked by what are the most relevant webpages for your searched keywords. Every search engine has a different kind of algorithm on how it works, but they are similar to each other. When I say webpage a lot of you are thinking about a standalone website that some web designer created. Yes, that has webpages, but I am also talking about your social media accounts like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Lets focus on optimizing your page for Google since that is the most used search engine. There are hundreds of factors that go into whether your webpage should be a top search result for Google. I am going to pin point the biggest key factors so you do not have to spend countless hours trying to figure it out. If you don’t believe me then go ahead and Google Michael Roy Bean. You should find michaelroybean.com and my twitter as the top results.
Value Added Content
Making sure visitors stay on your webpage once they get there is key to SEO. Adding value is the first thing that needs to be done to your webpage. This step takes the longest, but if there is no value to the visitor/customer on your page then they will not stay long. This will bring your average time per visit down. Google will use average time per visit as a measuring stick to figure out if your page is relevant to the visitor who inputted the keywords in the search field. Another way to keep visitors on your page longer is to not only add valuable content, but to add timing. What I mean by timing is how you structure key images, words, phrases into your website. For example, if you place a large picture on your page that is the first thing the visitor will see. They are going to take a few seconds to look at it before moving on to the other content. This helps add time to your average time per visit and every second matters.Timing of picture locations is great, but you can also add timing in the language you use. Strong word usage and transitions that keep the visitor reading will keep them longer.
It must be Frozen
Optimizing your website to make your pages load fast is the second thing you should work on. Think about how many times you clicked on a link to view a page and it took too long to load. Did you wait patiently? I am guessing you just closed out of the webpage you wanted to initially open. Extensive loading times can be caused by videos and images on your page. This is how you will lose most of your visitors. You will see a lot of websites publishing their videos on YouTube now and providing outbound links to the viewer. This makes it so the visitor stays on your page, but the video loads on to another page for the person to watch. This not only keeps the visitor on your page longer, but also provides content to them faster. For images just make sure what your are uploading is not a large file size and is formatted correctly. Google has already came out and said that SEO results will start focusing on how well a page functions on cell phones soon. So your page must play well with cell phone navigation to be a top search result.
Making sure your visitors stay on your webpage as long as possible and optimizing your website for loading quick are 2 huge factors in determining SEO results. As you can see they both correlate with each other and so do the other few hundred factors Google uses to filter top search results. Just Google it.
